"
Individuality, diel-time, and landscape context shape space-use of an elusive carnivore in a risky environment"

After 3 years of tracking >40 fisher in the state of Rhode Island, we found that fisher generally avoided risky areas like roads in development when moving across the landscape. However, we did find evidence that fisher living in more urban areas are adjusting their behavior spatio-temporally to utilize areas near roads when risk is low. Check out our new publication in Landscape Ecology!

The Rhode Island Fisher Study

The Rhode Island Fisher Study (RIFS, 2020-2024) is a collaboration between the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the University of Rhode Island. Our partners at RIDEM put together this amazing video of our work to help local RI students learn about the project and about fishers. Click the link below to see some videos of our newest recruits.
